Seedlings Morning Menu

Year One

We’re pleased to share that our Seedlings Morning Menu (Year One) will be available for FREE here on our website. Eeeeek! I created these Morning Menus to allow me to structure the remainder of the gentle feast that I wanted to expose my child to that did not quite fit in another subject area: hymn study, artist study, Scripture memory, poetry memory, and composer study. As one who truly values the beauty of the arts, our morning menu time has become a joy and delight that the whole family can enjoy together!

Our Seedlings Morning Menus are designed to introduce children ages 4-12 to as much truth and beauty as possible – right around the breakfast table or cuddled on the couch. Our Morning Menus feature the following:

  • Prayer prompts to guide family prayer time.
  • One classic hymn per month.
  • One Psalm to memorize each season.
  • One seasonal poem to memorize each season.
  • One featured composer per season with recommended compositions.
  • A seasonal study on famous impressionists.
  • Classical artwork formatted and ready for print.
  • Nature Study suggestions applicable to the season.
  • And MORE!

Recommendations

Our Seedlings Morning Menus are designed to be stand-alone, meaning they offer exposure to a wealth of goodness with minimal effort to gather materials. However, if you’d like a few recommendations to complement our Morning Menus, here are a few favorites.

  • Then Sings My Soul: 150 of the World’s Greatest Hymn Stories by Robert J. Morgan offers a wonderful, concise history of each poem featured in our Spring Morning Menu.
  • Living Biographies of Great Composers (1940, 1946) by Henry and Dana Lee Thomas offers a beautiful biography of our Spring Composer. This book is out of print, but I was able to thrift a copy online and have loved using it with my daughter. I recommend pre-reading as you may want to omit sections based on your family needs.
  • Living Biographies of Great Painters (1946) by Henry and Dana Lee Thomas offers living biographies of both Renoir and Van Gogh, making it an excellent addition to your collection. I’m looking to thrift a copy this spring!
  • Our Spotify Playlist has a beautiful version of each of the hymns from the Spring Morning Menu.

tips for printing & Prep

Below you’ll be able to download our Seedlings Morning Menu (Spring Edition). The file is large, and will be downloaded as a ZIP file, so it will be easiest to download on a desktop computer. After you download, we recommend the following:

  • Print in color and on cardstock for extra durability.
  • Print file single-sided to make customization easy. You may want to omit pages, or rearrange pages depending on your menu or folder layout.
  • Purchase a restaurant menu from Amazon or laminate pages for additional durability. This has kept our pages clean during breakfast and allowed my toddler to freely explore the pages without fear of him damaging them.

We’d love to hear feedback after you’ve used them a couple weeks! You’ll find my contact information on the top right of our home page along with our other social icons.
